IDF soldiers entered Gaza Monday and began arresting terrorists about a mile in from the partition fence in southeastern Gaza.

This is the first time the IDF has carried out a search and arrest operation since the withdrawal and destruction of Jewish communities in the area almost two years ago.

The soldiers operated under aerial cover and brought in 15 tanks through the Sufa crossing.

Taking part in the operation were the Golani and Givati brigades, which each have served many tours of duty in the Gaza region in the past. No injuries have been reported.

IDF D9 bulldozers have cleared out a large area to make it more difficult for terrorists launching Kassam rockets to take cover.
