An Israeli man was moderately wounded after a Palestinian Authority terrorist fired a hunting rifle at a small group of Israelis standing at a Shomron hitchhiking post, or trampiada, Tuesday night.

The terrorists shot the man as they were driving by the hitchhiking post located between the communities of Emanuel, Karnei Shomron and Kedumim, southwest of Shechem.

The victim, a resident of Emanuel in his 30’s, was shot in the thigh. He was treated at the scene before being evacuated to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva. Two other Israelis standing at the junction were not injured by the shooting.

According to security sources, the terrorists were transporting a large number of weapons in their car. IDF soldiers conducted searches and set up roadblocks throughout the area in an effort to track down the terrorists.

The shooting was similar to a terrorist attack that murdered three young Israelis and wounded five others in October 2005. Those victims, standing at a hitchhiking stand in Judea, were shot by terrorists who fired a barrage of bullets and then drove off.

Terrorists also carried out a drive-by attack, overtaking an Israeli vehicle driving near the PA-controlled city of Kalkilye, east of Kfar Saba and Raanana, earlier this year. A 55-year-old Jewish resident of Shomron was wounded in that attack.
