Authorities nab dubious parcels at Gaza border

Defense Ministry officials from the Crossing Points Authority caught hundreds of parcels at the Erez checkpoint containing forbidden items ordered online which could be used for terror purposes in the Gaza strip, according to a Channel 2 report.

Security authorities described the items as "dual usage", meaning that they could be used for civilian purposes but also for terror activity. Some of the items could even be used to produce makeshift weapons. The people ordering the items attempted to disguise them as innocent parcels.

The items included gliders, binoculars, metal detectors, walkie-talkies, knives, small engines, adaptors, electric drills and professional headlamps for underground work.
