Olmert Tells Disapora Kids Jerusalem is 'Undivided'

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told children in the Diaspora that he was sending "warm greetings from Jerusalem --the eternal and undivided capital of the State of Israel and the Jewish people." However, in a message to adults in the Diaspora, he referred Jerusalem only as "the eternal capital" of the country.

His government has proposed surrendering large parts of eastern Jerusalem, offering it as the capital of a new Arab country inside Israel's current borders. When he was mayor of Jerusalem a decade ago, and as recently as two years ago when he was acting Prime Minister after Ariel Sharon was incapacitated by a stroke, Prime Minister Olmert always referred to Jerusalem as Israel's "eternal and undivided" capital.
