The lovers of Galut have 2 new excuses why not to make aliyah: The Corona situation has become a danger in Israel, and because of the epidemic, unemployment is rampant.

When Israel had the virus under control in what seemed like a miraculous manner, and when the Israeli economy remained strong, people hurried to request aliyah forms. In other words, their sudden desire to make aliyah stemmed from selfish reasons, not out of a towering love for the Land of Israel, or for their great passion to get closer to G-d, but out of personal fear.

Apparently, Hashem decided to tighten the screws and test their sincerity. Let's see how many application forms are filled out this month when the situation in Israel isn't as honky-dory as it was after the initial outbreak of Corona.

Today, Hashem wants His children to come home to the Land of Israel, not because they are fleeing danger, but because they want to live in the Chosen Land out of a passionate love for Him, because this is where He wants us to live. He tests us to discover whether or not we truly set Jerusalem above out highest joy. Even if there is Corona, unemployment, and scary giants in the Land, Eretz Yisrael is the only place a Jew should yearn to live.
