The Lion and the Rooster”

This is the story of the friendship between the Lion and the Rooster.

“Look Lion, they're coming for your Kingdom,” said the Rooster, as he pranced back and forth nervously with his hands clasped tightly behind his back and his feathers all in a flutter.

“Don't just lie there in the sun, this is no time to work on your tan!

“Rumor has it, a new and improved geometric design with funny angles has been drawn up for your Kingdom, one you're not going to like but you're to accept, because they say you would be holding up peace in the Jungle if you were to reject it. Why if there was peace in your Kingdom, say the other Kings who would never give up an inch of their land, there would be peace all over the Jungle, so give up your Land, Lion.

“I know what you're thinking, 'Why don't they go and draw peace shapes and squiggly lines on Syria or Yemen, or some other place on earth where Hell refuses to take a holiday?  Why is it always about dividing up my Kingdom?'

“Well don't you know Lion, you are to be forever grateful for being given a sliver of your Kingdom back, and you were never to dare to roar. The Ottomans thought they would have a revival, so they got together to fight against you, thinking there was no one to protect you -- no miracles for you. Well they lost, and for that they can never forgive you. So, they've spent the last 7 decades trying hard and using strong rope to tie both your hands, tie both your feet, and muzzle your roar.

“You see Lion, it has always been and always will be about your Kingdom - Now let me hear you roar!” said the Rooster, as he jumped excitedly on the Lion's paw nervously tapping his foot, knowing it would be no small earthquake when the Lion did roar.
