What can I say, talk about a slow week! I guess its the "ramadan effect".

First Friday of Ramadan passed peacefully. Shavuos - same thing. Biggest surprise is that its already Wednesday night.

Some misguided Jews continue to complain about the Israeli army killing terrorists on the Gaza border. Seems the non-Jews, including the Gazans, have moved on by now. I guess self-hate has a longer shelf life than regular hate.

The Trump Administration:

-Reports are coming out that their "peace plan" is almost ready to be released. Unlikely Abu Mazen (head of palestinian authority) will still be alive when it comes out. He's been in the hospital all this week with infections to his....everything. And that's not even the biggest problem. There are numerous. The whole thing might be fake news. Might be a joke. Both are totally possible and equally irrelevant.

-Today there are reports all over the Israeli press that the US is considering recognizing the Golan Heights as part of Israel. Israel legally annexed the Golan Heights in 1981 after conquering it in the Six Day War of 1967 and defending it in 1973. This may be in preparation for the seemingly assured return of Syrian forces (possibly accompanied by hezbollah/iran) to the border area. I guess you could call this diplomatic fortification.

Philip Roth died. I thought he was the old Jewish guy in the Godfather (apparently that's Hyman Roth). Anyway, that means I have no idea who he is. He wrote some fiction books and had some leftist political views clearly based on fiction.

Expect some excitement beginning of next week.
