A look at Hampshire College’s website and you’ll find them boasting about “an education that is unique, profound, engaging, active, collaborative, intellectually challenging - and joyful.” Unfortunately, one can now add the following

Biased, prejudiced, dishonest and bigoted.

adjectives as well: biased, prejudiced, dishonest and bigoted. Interesting indeed that once again Israel is singled out in a world ever bent on caving in to the monies and influence of the militant Islamic agenda.

My niece goes to Hampshire College and, until now, was basically enjoying her college education. She also visited Israel and spent several months studying and touring there. She found it inspiring and exhilarating, and a far cry from how it’s often depicted in the media. Israel, she happily found out, is a thriving, energetic and very democratic country - very much unlike all the other much larger Muslim countries that surround it. She’s now seriously considering pulling out of Hampshire College, just months before graduating. Kudos to my niece, who has the ability and honesty to rise above the one-sided, absurd anti-Israel nonsense.

Hampshire College also boasts a rather vocal pro-Palestinian group, who apparently became rather incensed that Israel had the audacity to defend itself in the recent Gaza War. There was no mention from this Hampshire College group, known as Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP), about the thousands of rockets shot by Hamas into Israel - after, mind you, Israel gave away Gaza for the sake of peace. The only apartheid politics practiced in Gaza is by Hamas, who now in live in Judenrein land. But I guess Hamas wasn’t exactly looking to become good, peaceful neighbors with Israel after all. Rather than develop important infrastructure to build a healthy functioning state, they simply used the newly acquired territory to launch their missiles and rockets.

Nor was there any reference from Hampshire College to the fact that Arabs enjoy more rights in Israel than pretty much any other Arab or Muslim country on the planet. In Israel, all citizens, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, can vote, serve in the Knesset,

I say it’s high time to divest from Hampshire’s corrupt politics. Not a cent more.

live where they want, and worship where and how they want. The same cannot be said for a whole bunch of countries all across Mother Earth - including the ones JSP and now Hampshire College support.

It seems that being pro-Palestinian also means that it’s somehow a-OK for Hamas and other militant Islamic groups to carry on business-as-usual; which means shooting rockets from civilian areas into other civilian areas, oppression of women, attacks on gays, torture and murder of anyone deemed an adversary, smuggling illegal weapons, and the lovely list goes on and on.

The Hampshire College anti-Israel vote was not only misguided, it’s an act that empowers the forces of ignorance over knowledge, of wrong over right. I say it’s high time to divest from Hampshire’s corrupt politics. Not a cent more from my niece or from me. Like the Beatles sang many years ago: “If ya want money for people with minds that hate, all I can tell ya is brother you have to wait.” Indeed. No more room for hatemongers on an American college campus.
