forces. They are all connected by the same thread of libelous statements against the Jewish pioneers in Judea and Samaria, and perhaps, even more so, against the Jews living in the City of our Fathers, Hevron.

The mechanisms working against us Jews who have returned to these vital areas are a frantic attempt to delegitimize an entire sector of the Jewish population of Israel. Such harsh phrases are not even used against the anarchists and Muslim mobs who, on a daily basis, injure and endanger our solders in Na'alin.

The house in Hevron repeatedly mentioned in the news is one of the clearest examples of language and how it is used to influence public opinion. The media and those governmental and judicial officials who detest all Jewish presence in these areas determine that the house is called "Dispute House". We, the Jewish pioneers in Judea and Samaria, on the other hand, who have legally purchased this house in Hevron - yet another precious bit of property in order to protect Jewish interests in our homeland - call it Peace House.

Sadly, the media is by now so used to public officials under investigation for illegal actions, it is willing to quietly allow continued negotiations by these same politicians despite the dangers involved. For example, despite the continuous investigations directed against the Prime Minister, the media is silent. The courts do not see fit to prevent Mr. Ehud Olmert from continuing the perilous direction of capitulation to the Palestinian Authority.

We, on the other hand, have legally purchased a house, paid for in cash, and have documented the deal in order to prevent any question of the legalities of the ownership of the house. Just this past Shabbat, we learned how our Father Abraham was offered the Cave of Machpela and the field and trees around it in Hevron; yet, he insisted in paying for the same and not receiving it as a gift, which could later be questioned or denied.

Abraham told Efron that he wished to purchase the Cave and field and trees for a burying place, and paid the four hundred shekels of silver that Efron had said it was worth. Abraham had the foresight to recognize the danger of not buying this piece of property outright. He was sure that he was thus ensuring that this cave, and the field and the trees around it, would forever remain an inheritance for the Jewish people.

hands, have purchased the house legally. The Israeli courts make a mockery of justice by refusing even to admit and study the evidence proving the legality of the sale.

How tragic that Israeli courts do not believe in justice for the Jewish people, how ironically sad that the media continues to label us "extremists" while daily, in Na'alin, dissidents and Arabs are rioting and injuring Israeli soldiers; yet, not once did those rioters get called "extremists" or "dangerous".

The courts and the media and, yes, even the politicians can have their day now, but we, the Jewish people, the eternal nation, are not afraid of a long road. We shall continue to live, build, buy and secure homes and communities in the heartland of Israel: Judea and Samaria, including Hevron. We, like our Father Abraham, believe in investing in our nation for the long run and not for headlines, popularity or elections. We follow in the footsteps of our forefather.
