Washington Post’s Richard Cohen goes blood libel on Trump

Richard Cohen, longtime columnist for The Washington Post, finally found the means to equate Trump with Hitler.

Trump, he says, lied about Obama’s birthplace. Hitler, Cohen says, lied about the Jews.

Therefore, says Cohen, both are the same – in the creepiest prose since Gutenberg and what has to be the lowest point for the once-esteemed Washington Post. At the same time Cohen gets to drag down American journalism in its entirety while revealing the sickness that has afflicted our reporters and opinion-makers.

How low does it get?

Trivializing the Holocaust, where Cohen teeters from one paragraph to the next, amounts to a blood libel.

Who can read something like this? (I did to spare you.) Who can write something like this?

Or, truly, among the press there are no limits to Jew-bashing and Trump-trashing.

Cohen manages to get Germany’s monster and America’s GOP candidate in the same sentence again and again in a September 19th op-ed, though the headline alone amply covers the smear. The headline reads “Trump’s Hitlerian disregard for truth,” so we already know where this is going.

Read it all here if you insist. That is, if you insist on reading bad writing and terrible thinking.

Yes, the writing is awful, F-minus is any class, and the thinking is so twisted that it frightens you to think that this is what’s happening in our newsrooms.

It is terrifying to think that this is a functioning brain (more to less) that has access to publish such sleaze.

Yes, The Washington Post, once the pride of American Journalism, home to Woodward and Bernstein. What’s become of them?

They’ve become Richard Cohen, who, back in 2006, wrote, “Israel itself is a mistake.”

So we should not be surprised to find Richard Cohen bringing up Hitler with such ease, and not in a completely disdainful frame of mind.

No more disdainful than Donald Trump, to Richard Cohen and his kind. Hitler murdered Six Million Jews.

Trump – like so many other Americans, millions, in fact – had doubts about Obama’s place of birth, since put to rest by Trump.

But for Richard Cohen there is no difference between the two in what amounts to, in my opinion, the worst essay written in America in over 200 years.

Can it get any worse? I don’t think so. Once you mention Hitler in connection with anyone else, it’s over, finished.

This piece of dreck from Richard Cohen is so bad that even his fellow Liberals must stand back in amazement (or admiration?) to think that the bottom has finally been reached so far as covering news and opinion in the most glaring darkness of yellow journalism.

He beat them to the bottom of the barrel in a reach that displays the mindless treachery that passes for American Journalism at this time and place.
