The Supreme Court issued a temporary restraining order on Sunday which calls for the stoppage of construction and infrastructure work on dozens of homes in the Samarian Jewish community of Ofra. The ruling was issued in the petition of local Arab resident Tawfik Jabiran, who sought the destruction of the buildings, which were being built despite an order issued by the court about a month ago. The Arabs based their claim on the buildings being residential and not public, as called for in Ofra's urban plan. Member of Knesset Aryeh Eldad reacted to the ruling by saying, "The time has come for the state of Israel to tell the whole world, including the High Court, that it is the right of Jews to settle and build in the land of Israel, to immediately approve the urban building plans of all the communities in Judea and Samaria, and not to let the court undermine the rights of the Jewish people on the land of Israel."
