A 21 year old Arab man was shot and killed by Border Police in Birqin, west of Jenin, before dawn Wednesday. A riot developed as IDF forces carried out an arrest of a wanted terrorist. Border Police forces fired at the rioters and the man – who is a resident of Birqin – was hit in the chest. The Bethlehem-based Ma'an news agency identified the man as Muhammad Ahmad Alawneh. It said he was taken to a hospital for treatment, where he underwent surgery, but later succumbed to his wounds. Sources told Ma'an that Israeli forces detained a man named Muhammad Ali Atiq during the raid. A military source told Israeli public radio that "the army and border guards carried out an operation in the village to arrest wanted terror suspects. "Stones and Molotov cocktails were thrown and tyres were burned," and "forces used riot-dispersal means," including tear gas and rubber-coated bullets against the stone-throwers. No live ammunition was used, the source said.
