Four IDF soldiers were admitted Tuesday night to Ziv Medical Center in Tzfat, after suffering injuries during operational activity.
The soldiers suffered injuries to their faces, as well as shrapnel injuries. Their injuries are considered light, and they are being treated in the hospital's emergency room.
Earlier this week, the IDF announced that four soldiers fell in battle in southern Lebanon: company commander Major (Res.) Evgeny Zinershain, aged 43, from Zikhron Ya'akov; platoon commander Captain (Res.) Sagi Ya'akov Rubinshtein, aged 31, from Lavi; Master Sergeant (Res.) Binyamin Destaw Negose, aged 28, from Bet Shemesh; and Sergeant First Class (Res.) Erez Ben Efraim, aged 25, from Ramat Gan. All served in the 9263rd Battalion, 226th Brigade.
An IDF preliminary investigation found that troops from the 226th Brigade went to search for Hezbollah weapons and infrastructure in the Labbouneh Reserve near the border in the west. Upon entering a tunnel that contained weapons and additional shafts, there was an explosion and the structure collapsed.
The IDF is looking into the possibility that the incident was caused by an operational accident, meaning it was IDF munitions that exploded. The chances of that are high, but the investigation is still ongoing. Rescue teams from the Home Front Command worked for hours to evacuate the soldiers who were trapped underground.
