Captain Yarden Zakay died of his wounds after being seriously injured in combat in southern Gaza on September 17, the IDF reported.
Zakay, 21 years old from Hadera, served a platoon commander in the Shaked Battalion of the Givati Brigade.
Zakay was injured after a building exploded in Rafah.
In that incident, Captain Daniel Mimon Toaff, aged 23; Staff Sergeant Agam Naim, aged 20; Staff Sergeant Amit Bakri, aged 20; and Staff Sergeant Dotan Shimon, aged 21 were killed. Zakay and three others were injured.
Nineteen soldiers have fallen in combat in the past month, and one was killed during operational activity near Gaza.
