The IDF announced during the Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New Year) holiday that Captain Ben Zion Falach fell in combat with Hezbollah terrorists in southern Lebanon.
Falach, aged 21 from Nitzanei Oz, served as an officer in the 202nd Battalion, Paratroopers Brigade. He fell Wednesday during combat in southern Lebanon.
The funeral is expected to take place on Sunday.
The battle in which Falach fell was the Paratroopers' fifth battle since the start of the ground operation in southern Lebanon. Hezbollah terror cells include between one and four terrorists, and since the start of the Paratroopers' ground operations, 15 terrorists have been eliminated in close-quarters combat.
Falach is the ninth soldier to fall in Lebanon since the ground operation began.
On Tuesday, the IDF announced the deaths of eight soldiers in southern Lebanon: Cpt. Harel Etinger, Cpt. Itai Ariel Giat, Noam Barzilay, Or Mantzur, Nazar Itkin, Almken Terefe, Ido Broyer, and Captain Eitan Itzhak Oster.
