US President Joe Biden spoke Monday night at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
In his speech, Biden took aim at former US President Donald Trump, who is set to run head-to-head with Vice President Kamala Harris. "He says we’re losing. He's the loser! He’s dead wrong!" he said.
He also claimed that, "Trump wants to cut Social Security and Medicare."
"Because of all of you in this room and others, we came together in 2020 to save democracy. As your president, I've been determined to keep America moving forward, not going back."
During his speech, Biden stressed that his administration will continue to work to bring about the release of those held hostages by Gaza terror groups, as well as end the war.
"We’re working around the clock, my secretary of state, to prevent a wider war and reunite hostages with their families and surge humanitarian health and food assistance into Gaza now," he said. He added that his administration aims "to end the civilian suffering of the Palestinian people and finally, finally deliver a ceasefire and end this war."
"Two days ago, I put forward a proposal that brought us closer" to this goal "than we’ve done since Oct. 7," he claimed.
As Biden spoke, a group of anti-Israel protesters turned their backs to him and covered their mouths with their hands, in protest of his aid to Israel.
Justifying the anti-Israel protesters, he added, "They have a point. A lot of innocent people are being killed on both sides."
