Channel 12 News analyst Amit Segal criticized the intention to appoint Brigadier General Shlomi Binder as Military Intelligence Directorate chief following the resignation of Major General Aharon Haliva.

"Shlomi Binder, head of the Operations Brigade, is one of those responsible for the IDF's belated response on October 7," Segal wrote.

He noted that in a meeting held by the IDF's top brass, Binder said that the "number one" problem in Judea and Samaria is "nationalist crime," a term used to refer to fringe groups of Jews who act violently towards local Arabs.

"The Chief of Staff does not intend to resign, and he does want to shape the next General Staff in his likeness," Segal explained.

Earlier on Tuesday, it was reported that IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi is expected to announce, before the weekend, the appointment of Binder as the next Military Intelligence Directorate chief.

At the same time, Halevi intends to appoint Home Front Command chief Major General Rafi Milo to the position of Central Command chief.

The IDF denied the report: "Appointments have not been finalized. The process of appointments is being handled in an organized and professional fashion. If they are finalized, the public will be updated in an official and transparent fashion."
