Sirens sounded early Tuesday afternoon in Ashkelon and the nearby Hof Ashkelon Regional Council, and one rocket directly hit a residential building in the city.
Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics called to the scene treated two women of about 60, who had suffered light injuries from shrapnel, as well as three victims of shock - two of them children.
Police officers and sappers also arrived at the scene.
Menachem Blalo, who heads United Hatzalah's Ashkelon branch, said, "We provided initial medical aid at the scene, to two women who at this stage are considered as having suffered light injuries from shrapnel, following a direct hit to a residential building."
"In addition, United Hatzalah support teams are providing aid to four shock victims, some of them children."
