Colonel Asaf Hamami, age 41 from Kiryat Ono, commander of the Southern Brigade, fell in battle on October 7.
His body is being held by a terror organization.
Hamami is considered "a fallen IDF soldier kidnapped by a terror organization." he is survived by his wife and three children.
Hamami is one of three senior officers who fell on October 7, as Hamas attacked Israel during the Simchat Torah holiday.
Kiryat Ono Mayor Israel Gal said, "Asaf Hamami, of blessed memory, commander of the Southern Brigade, was called together with his command post to protect Kibbutz Nirim. The battle of a few against many was possible thanks to his and his command's heroic fighting and sacrifice - they protected the settlement with their bodies and drew to themselves a significant portion of the terrorists."
