The Defense Ministry’s Budget Department reported Tuesday that since the beginning of the war, more than four billion shekels have been paid to thousands of small and mid-sized manufacturers and suppliers.
Approximately a quarter of the sum was paid to 8,900 suppliers on the northern border, near Gaza, and in other areas of great national importance.
The payments were made for military equipment, support for the war effort, and continuing procurements, while significantly reducing the number of days until payment. Additionally, the Defense Ministry has paid more than half a billion shekel in advances to support its suppliers, speed up supply chains, and purchase raw materials.
The payment policy is in accordance with instructions from the director of the ministry, General (res.) Eyal Zamir, and the Accountant General of the Finance Ministry, and emphasizes Israeli-made purchases as much as possible in the Israeli market.
