IDF pararescue teams, known as Unit 669, have extracted more than sixty injured soldiers from the war zone in Gaza since the start of the ground invasion. The rescues included advanced life-saving medical treatment while still in flight.

The extractions are conducted under fire, at high speeds, and take place both within or near the Gaza Strip. They join a total of more than two hundred casualty evacuations, by helicopter and vehicle, since the Hamas invasion of Israel.

The helicopter teams execute complex operations with the help of a support staff that coordinates between ground and air forces.

One officer from the “Birds of the Desert” squadron commented, “Our helicopter squadrons have evacuated dozens of casualties since the start of the ground offensive, in complex conditions, under fire, and while dealing with severely injured soldiers.”

“Our close cooperation with Unit 669 and ground forces leads to life-saving rescue operations, including exceptional professional medical care from the medical personnel in the helicopters. We are ready to be anywhere, at any time, giving immediate assistance to our soldiers in the field.”

“Our goal is always a fast and safe evacuation, and reaching a hospital in the shortest possible time.”
