A Jewish man said that he feels "lucky to be alive" after he was beaten by three pro-Palestinian demonstrators in Sydney, Sky News Australia reported.
The 44-year-old victim told Sky News correspondent Sharri Markson that he was at a playground when he saw a half-torn poster for a pro-Palestinian rally which had already happened and tore the rest of it down. A father at the playground then accosted him and said: "I will murder you."
The Jewish victim called the police after being threatened by the first activist. Before the police arrived, he was surrounded by a crowd of men and women who continued to threaten and yell slurs at him.
The victim said that he was struck on the back of his head and knocked to the ground. Three of the men surrounding him then proceeded to punch him in the head repeatedly. He was punched a total of twelve times.
Sydney police are now investigating the incident.
The attack on a Jewish man in Sydney follows the killing of an elderly Jewish man in Los Angeles, California earlier this week.
Paul Kessler, a 69-year-old Jewish man, died after being assaulted by a pro-Palestinian protester with a megaphone during demonstrations in the northern part of the city.
The assailant hit Kessler over the head with a megaphone, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head again. Video from the scene showed a significant amount of blood on the ground where Kessler's head was.
Kessler was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
