In a joint operation with the IDF, Border Police, and Shin Bet, Yamas operatives in Judea and Samaria arrested terrorist Atta Abu Ramila, 63, and his son, in the city of Jenin.

Abu Ramila is a senior terrorist in the Jenin area, and his son is also a terrorist in the region.

In recent months, Atta Abu Ramila has promoted terror activity and provided funding to the tune of tens of thousands of shekels, aiding wanted individuals and terror operatives. Most of his activities were focused on the Jenin area, and he played a significant role in escalating the security situation in the area.

"For several months, Abu Ramila played a central role in inciting in Judea and Samaria, calling on others to harm IDF soldiers and the State of Israel, while using his public position ion the ground. In light of his position and connections in Judea, Samaria, and abroad, his activities constituted an enormous threat which required his immediate arrest," the Shin Bet said.

Following this, fighters from the IDF's Duvdevan unit, Haruv commando unit, Ducheifat battalion, engineering, and Border Police operated in Jenin to thwart terror infrastructure. During the operation, engineering tools uncovered pre-prepared, ready-to-use explosives which were placed under roads in order to harm the forces. During the operation, armed terrorists fired shots and hurled explosives at the forces, who returned fire. In addition, aircraft attacked a terror cell which fired towards the forces. Hits were identified on a number of terrorists.

Searching the area, Duvdevan forces located and destroyed an underground tunnel shaft which contained ammunition. Together with this, the forces confiscated military equipment and ammunition which had been found by Border Police forces in a suspicious vehicle.
