Member of Israel’s Knesset, and Israel’s former Ambassador to the United Nations, Danny Danon, today led a delegation of ambassadors on a tour of Israel’s Southern communities of Sderot and Ofakim.
Ambassadors joining the visit came from countries including the Czech Republic, South Sudan, Kosovo and Albania amongst others.
The group toured the sights of Sderot and Ofakim and spoke to the cities' Mayors and residents. During the tour, MK Danny Danon and the Ambassadorial delegation witnessed scenes of destruction and heard of the atrocities committed by Hamas from local residents. They also listened to stories of the true heroism of the residents, policemen and soldiers who bravely stood up to the brutal massacres.
MK Ambassador Danny Danon said: “Visiting the communities of the South is vital to bearing witness to the atrocities that occurred here. Our entire delegation was shocked by the sights they saw and stories they heard. They also understood that today it is us, and tomorrow it will be them. That's why we have full support from the global community to eliminate Hamas entirely. I am in no doubt - we will get the job done.”
"The whole world must see and understand the crimes committed by the terrorist organization Hamas", he said at a press conference in front of the Sderot police station. The station was occupied by terrorists during the initial phase of the attack, and destroyed by Israeli forces in an attempt to kill the terrorists inside," he said.
Ambassador Veronika Kuchynova of the Czech Republic said: "Hamas committed a horrible terrorist attack against Israel. Not against the IDF, but against civilians, families, children. Barbarians from Hamas need to be destroyed so this will happen never again. I am grateful to Member of Knesset Danny Danon for taking us with him to Sderot and the area in the South today, to express support to the local communities. The Czech Republic stands with Israel, now and forever."
With the Gaza Strip region still not entirely secured from terrorists, the conference took place with all those present wearing body armor.
As Danon spoke with the delegation, a rocket attack began, and the conference rushed to the nearby bomb shelter. One of the reporters can be seen being knocked to the ground in the rush, and needing to be helped to the shelter by a comrade.
Danon related to the siren in the midst of the visit and said: "During the tour to the southern communities of Israel with a delegation of ambassadors, a volley of missiles was fired at the city and we ran to take cover. This is the unbearable reality of the residents of the south as well as the rest of the country. We are fighting to put an end to Hamas."
