IDF officials downplayed the launching of two rockets from the Jenin area yesterday (Monday) toward Israeli territory. According to the officials, the man who fired the rockets is a resident of a small Arab village who has no affiliation with any terrorist organizations.

They noted that the Hamas terrorist organization which rules the Gaza Strip did not claim responsibility for the rocket launches, and said that the purpose of the rockets was to "sow fear" using a "Tiktok video." According to them, the true threat in Samaria comes from armed terrorists who carry out shooting attacks such as the attack near Eli a week ago in which four civilians were murdered.

"The video on Tiktok succeeds in sowing fear, but according to the sources in the army there is no real threat in the field yet, and the real threat is the shooting squads. The IDF is following the attempt to develop this field [of launching rockets at Israel from Judea and Samaria] and deals with it all the time," they said.

The officials also addressed the reprisals committed by right-wing extremists against Arabs in Judea and Samaria following the attack near Eli, and stated that these acts harm security by causing security forces to be diverted from training or normal operational activity to deal with the rioters.
