Former President of the Supreme Court of Israel Aharon Barak, who initiated the court's judicial activism, participated in a conference at Reichman University in Herzliya and made a surprising remark regarding the government's judicial reform plan.
"I think we need to be considerate to the parts of the nation that support the reform," Barak proclaimed.
At the same time, Barak also attacked Prime Minister Netanyahu's intentions to renew the legislation of some of the reforms. "The people today are the protective wall that separates between us and a dictatorship."
During Sunday's cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Netanyahu stated: “What was proven last week is that the so-called negotiations were actually just a waste of time."
The Prime Minister said that the coalition gave the opposition "a month, and then another month, and another, and their representatives did not agree to even the most minimal understanding. Their intention was just to buy time, to waste time.”
