An Antioch, Illinois has been arrested for allegedly making violent threats toward Jewish institutions, according to the StopAntisemitism advocacy organization.

Christopher Williams, 33, was taken into custody for making direct threats against the Jewish organizations and was charged with hate crime and electronic harassment counts, both class 4 felonies.

The threats were made to institutions across the United States and then were repeatedly made toward a synagogue in Lindenhurst, Illinois, according to a statement from Antioch officials.

The threats against Jewish organization were made over a period of several months, according to WGN News.

The investigation into the incidents was conducted by local and federal authorities.

“This type of discrimination and threats of violent behavior will not be tolerated in our community where we foster the core values of respect and inclusivity,” Antioch Police Chief Geoffrey Guttschow said in a statement. “I would like to personally thank our federal partners, Lake County States Attorney, and my officers for their dedication to the safety of our Lake County residents.”
