Aliyah and Integration Minister Ofir Sofer (Religious Zionism) on Sunday night landed in New York, heading off a trip to meet important figures in Brooklyn's Jewish community.
The trip began with a visit to the "Ohel," the grave of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneersohn, the Lubavitcher Rebbe, and his father-in-law Rabbi Yosef Yitzhak Schneersohn, the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe. There, Sofer prayed for his trip to be successful.
He was accompanied to the "Ohel" by Rabbi Zalman Duchman from Collel Chabad.
Later in the day, Sofer visited "770," the worldwide Chabad-Lubavitch headquarters located in Brooklyn, New York. There, he toured with Rabbi David Nachshon, who heads Chabad's mobile units in Israel.
"It was a great merit for me to begin my important trip with Chabad, to see from up close the place where the Rebbe worked and from where he sent thousands of emissaries to locations around the world," Sofer concluded.
