Israeli leaders attended Mimouna events across the country this evening (Wednesday). Mimouna is a festival celebrated by Moroccan Jews following the holiday of Passover, and celebrates the redemption of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt and the future redemption of the messianic age.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attended a Mimouna celebration at the community center in the Beit Eliezer neighborhood in Hadera, rather than in Or Akiva.

In the Knesset, Speaker Amir Ohana initiated a first-of-its kind Mimouna event at the legislature. A Moroccan tent decorated according to Moroccan tradition was set up at the site, and the public has been invited to participate in the festivities.
