Former Vice President Mike Pence spoke at the Israel Heritage Foundation book signing event in honor of his new book "So Help Me God" in Manhattan, New York. The event was attended by leading local rabbis.

"If the world knows nothing else, let the world know this: America stands with Israel," announced the potential GOP candidate in the 2024 presidency race.

"I grew up in a small Indiana town and Israel always had a special place in my heart," began Pence. "Songs about Israel were the anthems of my youth."

Pence discussed the role his support for Israel has played in his decisions as a lawmaker. "When I arrived in Congress with some knowledge about Israel and the miracle of its reestablishment in 1948 and the great challenges the people of Israel have faced for thousands of years - like no other people on Earth - every time I heard Israel being debated I'd go sprinting to the House of Representatives with my great friend, Eric Cantor, the most prominent Jewish Republican ever to serve, to speak on behalf of Israel," he said.

Pence recalled his experience with Jewish Democrats, who didn't understand where his passion for Israel came from. "I'd give a speech about Israel and one of my Jewish Democrat colleagues would come up to me and ask: 'Is there a big Jewish communities in the cornfields of Indiana?'"

The former Vice President addressed his relationship with President Trump and the phone call during which Trump asked him to be his running mate in 2016.

"I had the honor to serve on the most pro-Israel administration in the history of the US," pointed out Pence, who helped usher in the Abraham Accords and move the US embassy to Jerusalem.

"I'm incredibly proud of what our administration did," continued Pence. "And while our time in office did not end well, I will always be proud of our record and I will never stop fighting to advance the values that we advanced - especially for our most cherished ally, Israel."

Pence alluded to the cooling relations between the two countries. "These are uncertain times in the relationship between the United States and Israel...so I want to encourage you to be vigilant, lean in, and be vocal," he urged.

"May America always bless Israel, so help us G-d," concluded Pence.
