An IDF soldier from the Netzah Yehuda battalion was arrested by the military police at the Rantis Crossing with two Palestinian Arabs in his vehicle.

The soldier was turned over to the Military Police for questioning. According to the IDF, the soldier was off-duty and in civilian clothes when he was stopped and arrested, and was attempting to illegally transport the two into Israel.

Several attempts to illegally smuggle PA Arabs into Israel have been thwarted at the Rantis Crossing, which is near the city of Elad.

In November, a 51-year-old Galilee resident was arrested at the checkpoint on suspicion of transporting people into Israel illegally by using a fake wall inside his truck.

Border Police officers became suspicious of the vehicle and ordered the driver to exit the vehicle and submit it to an inspection. The officers located ten people on the other side of a fake wall.

The driver and the ten people he was attempting to smuggle into Israel were detained for questioning.
