
Foreign Minister Eli Cohen met on Tuesday with the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, Rabbi Moshe Reuven Azman.
During the meeting, the rabbi explained to the Foreign Minister the situation of the Jewish community in the country amid the war in the country and the many hardships the country's Jews are facing.
He asked for the minister's help in humanitarian aid and in anything that the State of Israel could contribute to ease the suffering of the citizens in their difficult time.
Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said at the meeting, "The State of Israel is committed to reaching out to every Jew, and in particular to the Jews of Ukraine in their difficult time. I instructed the officials at the Foreign Ministry to act to increase the humanitarian aid we provide to Ukraine, in order to improve their situation as much as possible."
Rabbi Azman noted after the meeting, "I found a true friend of the Jewish community in Ukraine in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. I thank Minister Eli Cohen for the kind words and important actions for the benefit of the Jews of Ukraine."
