According to the White House, Russia is purchasing hundreds of armed drones from Iran to use in the Ukraine war.

US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan commented that it was not certain if any of the drones had already been delivered. He said that the administration has evidence that Iran is about to train Russian troops in the operation of the drones, perhaps this month, the Associated Press reported.

“Our information indicates that the Iranian government is preparing to provide Russia with up to several hundred UAVs, including weapons-capable UAVs on an expedited timeline,” he said during a Monday press conference.

Sullivan said that Russia reaching out to Iran for weapons was a sign that its months long bombing of Ukraine was “coming at a cost to the sustainment of its own weapons.”
