President Trump takes out the world’s leading terrorist, of the moment, and rather than a big warm hug, more than half the country thinks Trump did wrong. Or so it seems.
You never root for the Boston Red Sox in Yankee Stadium, unless you are nuts, and you always cheer Tom Hanks and Gary Cooper in every Hollywood movie.
That’s the way we were. But no more is that a sure thing. The reverse is happening. The heroes are being booed.
There’s no crying in baseball, but there’s plenty of it for a madman general who got what’s coming.
For starters, in a snit over Trump’s termination of Soleimani, Iraq wants all US troops out of there, and remind me, please, why we are still there. I forgot.
I forgot which gang of Islamists we are protecting from another group of Islamists, and does anybody know which are the good guys and which are the bad guys?
(I thought we were done with ISIS.)
Is there a chance that with the trillions we have spent over there…and in Syria, and in Yemen, and in Libya and in Afghanistan, there is no telling them apart?
Can you imagine a book or a movie where both sides are the villains? That’s pretty much it over there.
Let’s not even talk, for the moment, about the loss of American life and limb for people who have never shown us any thanks or gratitude.
Israel, by the way, and in comparison, gets a pittance in foreign aid, neither asks nor gets US boots on the ground…and yet Israel…oh, never mind.
Back to the point, on Trump’s dispatch of Soleimani…who, incidentally, was an Iranian hand behind Hamas, Hezbollah, and Islamic Jihad, and always with more plans afoot.
No, wait. For the longest time, we were supposed to root for the Iraqis…the same Iraqis who pounced on Israel, 1948, 1967 and 1973. No thanks.
Then I remember the first time we went in there and one of our Humvees overturned. A group of young Iraqis saw it happen, ran over…to help?
No…they terrorized our guys. That’s the instinct; Something like it happened when two Israelis stumbled into Ramallah and sought help at the nearest police station.
The Israelis were murdered and cut to shreds. (The images too gruesome to link.)
You can’t fight instinct.
Back to Iraq… I was against helping them from the start…here is the proof from the column “That Oil is Ours,” and from this book.
Trump has been saying the same thing, exactly. He has been reading my mind, or I have been reading his.
This was not assassination, but combat; taking out an enemy fighter in a theater of operation, on the battlefield. Finally, back to the point.
The nation was behind the takeout of Osama bin Laden. Everybody cheered. Except for the few.
Now? Now the scoffers are the many, or so it appears, and they are all over…and all over Trump. Main reason. He is Trump. Not Obama.
So sorry we eliminated your mass murderer, Soleimani, who was always thinking ahead to the next atrocity.
This was not assassination, but combat; taking out an enemy fighter in a theater of operation, on the battlefield.
Totally fair and square. It’s called war. Also known as …we fight to win…under THIS president, thank G-d, finally.
Collectively, the contrarian boo-birds belong to the Democrat Party, and in normal times they’d be known as the loyal opposition.
Nothing loyal about them these days. Just to name a few, we have Schumer, Pelosi, Biden, the Squad, and so many others who scorn Trump but weep for Soleimani.
Or justify for him, and against our president.
CNN, surely. Hollywood, of course.
Soleimani was a calculated killer of our people. For him, they cheer. For Trump, they are “outraged.”
That man Soleimani destabilized the entire region. Trump saved us from his death squads even back here at home.
In the hearts and minds of our Dem/leftists, Soleimani deserved to live, and our president deserves to be impeached…and worse.
Just listen to them.
Some might call it treason. Let’s just say that in normal times, normal people rooted for the home team. Where’d they go?
