Israel Police, in cooperation with IDF trackers from the Givati Brigade, have arrested an Arab carjacking gang that was operating in the Samaria area, using a technique of staging an accident and then committing armed robbery.

A few weeks ago, police opened an investigation after receiving a report of armed robbery in which a mother and daughter, residents of Samaria, who were driving in the direction of Mevo Dotan, were forced to stop at the side of the road after a vehicle coming from behind collided with them.

After they stopped at the side of the road, a person who pretended to be coming to their aid instead sprayed them with pepper spray while a second person approached with a drawn weapon with which he threatened them. They were dragged out of their car, after which the two assailants got in and drove off.

Police and army forces called to the scene began searching for the suspects and collecting evidence, culminating in the arrests of three Arab residents of Jadeidi-Makr, near Akko, who were taken for questioning. Their remand has been extended.
