A meeting of the Supreme Planning Council that was supposed to convene to approve construction of thousands of housing units in Judea and Samaria was postponed to an unknown date.
Among other things, approx. 400 housing units on Mount Bracha were set to be approved.
Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan called it a "scandal" and "stealing the poor man's lamb": "Not only was as sovereignty promised in three consecutive election campaigns dissolved, and they stick in 'two-step' sovereignty and isolated communities, now also construction, which was guaranteed to be approved every 3 months, isn't taking place, thus establishing a de facto construction freeze.
"We will not accept this disregard for the basic human rights of the settlers. The right to grow and build and the right to live under civil and not military rule. At the end of the day when you fear applying sovereignty it leads also to a construction freeze."
In 2017, Netanyahu announced that Judea/Samaria construction would be approved four times a year (every 3 months) (meaning that the Supreme Planning Council convenes every 3 months), but since June 27, the Supreme Planning Council has not convened and the meeting that should have been held at the end of June was postponed to an unknown date.
The Supreme Planning Council on the 24th of the month held a small Planning Council meeting. (For individuals and not communities), however, a full-fledged meeting to approve building in communities was not held. This raises concerns that not only is Netanyahu renegotiating sovereignty, but is also causing a freeze to please the United States.
