Progress has been made in negotiations for a prisoner swap between Israel and Hamas, Lebanon's Al Akhbar newspaper reported Monday.
According to a report by Kan News, Israel agreed that in the first stage "humanitarian" prisoners, such as the elderly, women, and minors, would be released, and terrorists' bodies would be returned.
However, the report said that Hamas' representatives in the negotiations are having difficulty deciding whether the progress is real.
Often, there are reports in the Arab world regarding how prisoner swap negotiations are progressing, but these reports aim to pressure one side or the other and are not always sourced in the negotiations.
On Sunday, the parents of Hadar Goldin, who was killed during a United Nations-brokered "ceasefire" in Operation Protective Edge, warned Defense Minister Gantz to take action.
"We expect Gantz, as Chief of Staff during Operation Protective Edge who sent Hadar to fight, to ensure that he is brought home now, even though in the six years since Hadar was kidnapped and left in the hands of Hamas, he has not acted at all," they said.
"In case we do not see actual actions to bring back Hadar, we will change our statesmanlike path and act in other ways so that you fulfill your obligation to us as Chief of Staff during Operation Protective Edge.”
In addition to Hadar Goldin and Oron Shaul, who were killed during 2014's Operation Protective Edge, Hamas is believed to be holding two living Israelis, both of whom are mentally ill: Hisham al-Sayed, and Avera (Avraham) Mengistu.
