Professor Yoav Gelber and Shmuel Rosner discuss the upcoming plan to apply Israeli sovereignty to parts of Judea and Samaria, and its impact on the Israeli-Arab peace process.

Gelber is pessimistic about achieving peace between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, because he thinks the discourse between Jews and Arabs seems to be a 'dialogue of the deaf'.

The Israeli side, for the most part, thinks of realistic and practical paths and is therefore ready for a compromise, and in contrast, the Palestinian side speaks in terms of justice, except that justice is absolute and does not recognize compromises.

Yoav Gelber is a professor of history at the University of Haifa, and was formerly a visiting professor at The University of Texas at Austin.
