Tens of thousands of people who drove along the Coastal Highway on Saturday night saw a huge caption on the chimneys of Hadera to protest the rise in electricity prices.

"Avi Gabbay was right! When gas is expensive, electricity is expensive,” the caption read.

The presentation marks the opening of a Zionist Union campaign that will begin this week and which will center on the cost of living and the rise in electricity prices, under the title "Avi Gabbay was right".

In protest against the wave of price increases and especially the rise in the price of electricity, field activists from the Zionist Union arrived at the Hadera chimneys on Saturday night and projected the caption on the northern chimney.

"The government failed to deal with the cost of living," said Alon Visser, head of the Labor Party's field headquarters. "A 14% increase in housing prices, rising electricity prices, rising food prices, and an increase in water prices for domestic consumption. This is an absolute failure by the government in fighting the cost of living."

"Avi Gabbay was the only minister who fought against the gas outline. He bravely fought the gas companies against an entire government that gave in. He is the only one who can fight the cost of living. Gabbay was the first to recognize the economic price that the public is paying now, with the rise in electricity prices, over the corrupt gas plan."

"We believe that change is possible. You can fight the cost of living, pay 20% less for electricity, pay less for water and for food. In the next few weeks we plan to focus on the government's failures regarding the cost of living and to present the clear connection between the gas outline and electricity prices, and of course the government’s running away from the failure of price increases."
