Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Dov Kalmanovich welcomes the appointment of John Bolton as National Security Advisor to US President Donald Trump.
Kalmanovich, who met with Bolton a month ago, said that "in stark contrast to Obama Administration national security advisors and their predecessors in previous administrations, John Bolton understands very well that the Palestinian Authority is not a true partner in the fight against terror."
The meeting between the two was held as part of a visit by Kalmanovich to the United States for Remembrance Day for Israel's Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terror, to mark the 70th anniversary of the State of Israel.
"Bolton noted there are diplomats who want at all costs to sever the Gordian knot connecting Palestinian terror and global Islamic terror, but he understands that Palestinian terror is part and parcel of global Islamic terror, and that Israel and the United States must join hands to combat it. This especially in light of the fact that the EU countries continue to bury their heads in the sand and make every effort to avoid the fight against Islamic terrorism, while its cells continue to nest and grow in their countries."
Kalmanovich also notes that "Like the rest of the Trump government circle, Bolton doesn't see construction in Jerusalem as a problem, but rather part of a real solution for future political negotiations," Kalmanovich said.
However, he stressed, "It should be remembered that the Trump government will not serve forever. Unfortunately we learned that it is the exception that does not testify to the general rule regarding American administration policy towards Israel over the years, and it too will one day come to an end. This is the time to push, push, and push and take advantage of the time window for more and more building permits in West and East Jerusalem."
