Reactionary haredi protesters Monday night disrupted a graduation ceremony for haredi college students at the Strauss Campus in Jerusalem.
The ceremony was attended by Rabbi Eliyahu Schlesinger, MK Michael Malkieli (Shas) and city council members Yitzhak Pindrus and Yaakov Halperin.
During the ceremony, haredi students and their families were confronted by dozens of demonstrators from the Meah She'arim neighborhood who came to protest against the expansion of academic degree programs aimed at the haredi community.
According to eyewitnesses, the demonstrators shouted at the haredi students and their families and accused them of "frivolity."
This is the first graduating class of the college. Certificates were awarded for studies in management, biotechnology, politics, and communications.
