Culture and Sport Minister Miri Regev (Likud) on Wednesday slammed the Knesset's Ethics Committee for their decision to remove MK Oren Hazan (Likud) from plenums and committee deliberations for six months.

Hazan was removed from the deliberations after he made chicken noises at MK Ahmad Tibi (Joint Arab List), called MK Abd Al Hakeem Haj Yahya (Joint Arab List) "sewage" during a discussion, and implied that MK Michal Biran (Zionist Union) was a prostitute..

In November, Biran called Hazan a "pimp. after rumors surfaced that the MK owned a casino in Burqas that provided such services. On Tuesday she was removed from deliberations for two weeks, for refusing to apologize.

"This decision [on Hazan] is disproportionate and unfair, and it prevents MK Oren Hazan from doing his parliamentary job as a publicly elected figure," Regev said. "This decision smells of external considerations that have nothing to do with the issue at hand. This is a harsh decision which is not applied to other MKs who caused the Knesset's image severe harm."

"Just last week, we saw the Joint Arab List members stage an anti-Israel protest during US VIce President Mike Pence's speech. The entire purpose of this protest was to harm Israel's image, the status of our united capital of Jerusalem, and the status of the Knesset.

"Why were those MKs not suspended from Israel's legislative house? They do not have any feeling for the country."
