MK Oren Hazan (Likud) on Wednesday welcomed the United States’ recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel.
“We must not forget that one of the main reasons [President] Trump did this is because he wants to send to the entire world, from the lunatics in Iran to the rocket man in North Korea, one clear message: ‘I mean business. When I make a promise, I keep it,’” Hazan told Arutz Sheva.
"That’s why he promised an immigration order, and then fought for it and succeeded, he promised to move the embassy and today he announced that he will move it," continued Hazan.
Israel, he said, "needs to simply enjoy all of this. The transfer of the embassy to Jerusalem is also a sign that it is time for us to recognize Jerusalem as the eternal capital of Israel. It is inconceivable that many government ministries are still not in Jerusalem despite the law and despite a government decision on the matter.”
"It is inconceivable that we, representatives from this Knesset, who go out under the auspices of the government or under the auspices of the Knesset as part of delegations around the world, are working against the recognition of Jerusalem. Therefore, if we do not honor ourselves, no one will.”
Regarding the threats by terrorist organizations following Trump’s declaration, Hazan said, "We are not afraid, no one will threaten us with terrorism or escalation.”
"It should be clear: Those who call themselves Palestinians are mostly animals, they are not the Swiss who desire peace, they are not unicorns in the meadow of the Garden of Eden. They do not want us here. Their basis is hatred, and if there is anything that will happen as a result of this move, it is that this move will actually bring peace closer,” he added.
"On the day when our haters will understand that all hope is lost, that they will not have a state here and that Jerusalem is the capital of the Jewish people, they will understand that they cannot defeat us and can only join us, and then peace will come."
