Irgun Hamorim (the Teacher's Organization) announced that on Sunday a warning strike of one day will be held in all high schools around Israel.
The strike is in response to "the foot-dragging and lack of progress on the part of the Education and Finance Ministries regarding negotiations on the salaries of middle school and high school teachers."
Decisions regarding further steps will be made after the sides meet on Sunday.
Though the strike was originally planned to include both middle schools and high schools, it was later announced that only high schools would be affected.
Irgun Hamorim Director Ron Erez said, "The State must stop burying its head in the sand, and invest in the future of teaching and the future of Israeli students."
Israeli class size is large relative to Europe, and teachers' salaries, though they have risen in recent years, are still lower than OECD average.
