Fifteen firefighting teams and four firefighting planes are working to control a fire which began Thursday afternoon in Jerusalem.
The fire began at three different locations near the Sataf tourist site in the Jerusalem mountains.
It is estimated that 2000 dunams (494 acres) have been burned.
Jerusalem District Fire Chief Moshe Swissa warned tourists to stay away from the area.
"A change in the wind's direction and strength could cause the fire to regain strength, and tourists in the area may end up trapped," Swissa explained.
Israel Police closed roads in the area and placed barriers to prevent, among other things, curious people from attempting to approach.
It is not yet clear what caused the fire.
