MK Tzipi Livni (Zionist Union), whose zigzag political history includes the Likud, Kadima, her own failed Tnua party and now the leftist Zionist Union, is responsible, as foreign minister in the Olmert governement, for Israel's agreement in 2006 to UN resolution no.1701 that led to Hezbollah's takeover of south Lebanon.
The leftist MK responded to US President Donald Trump's statement that North Korea must denuclearize or be destroyed.
Speaking to Channel 10, Livni said she was not at all horrified by Trump's threat, and sometimes severe threats are necessary in order to prevent war. It needs to be clear that there is someone in charge of this "global city," she said.
However, Livni criticized Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, claiming he "needs to be active and do something." Beautiful speeches do not automatically become acts of peace, and no progress has been made so far, she claimed.
Speaking at the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, Trump said that North Korea must dismantle its nuclear capabilities if it wishes to survive.
Otherwise, he continued, the US may "have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea" if it continues to threaten world stability.
"Rocket Man is on a suicide mission for him and his regime," says Trump, referring to North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. He added that he hopes "we don’t have to destroy North Korea."
