A wedding celebration was interrupted on Thursday night when the groom cut his foot and had to be taken to an emergency clinic.

The groom, who cut his foot while stomping on a glass as is Jewish tradition under the wedding canopy, ended up with shards of glass in his foot.

He was treated at Jerusalem's Terem clinic, where he received special attention.

After undergoing an x-ray to ensure no foreign objects remained in his foot, the cut was stitched up. The groom then returned to his wedding celebrations, where he attempted to dance on one leg.

At tradtional Jewish weddings, after the ring is given and the blessings are said under the marriage canopy, a Jewish groom stomps on a glass, usually wrapped well in paper, in remembrance of the destroyed Temples in Jerusalem after he says the verse from Psalms: "I will remember Jerusalem on every joyous occasion." After the groom smashes the glass, wedding guests shout "mazel tov" and the wedding festivities begin.
