Twelve children aged 12 to 14 suffered burns on Monday evening when boiling soup spilled on them at a summer camp of the Bnei Akiva movement in the Ein Zeitim Forest in the Galilee.
The children are suffering light and moderate burns to their lower bodies.
Paramedics from Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah evacuated them to the Ziv Hospital in Tzfat.
Bnei Akiva said in a statement that the parents of the injured children were updated about the incident and that the movement remains in constant contact with them. Nine of the victims have already been released from hospital and the other three will remain there overnight for observation.
“The movement is working to provide a response to the injured campers and to all the campers at the site, including through the movement’s social worker who has arrived at the camp,” it said.
“At this stage, the activities in the camp will continue and will be coordinated according to assessments of the situation on the ground.”
