Matan Peleg, CEO of the Im Tirtzu grassroots proactive Zionist movement that began as a student organization, spoke to Arutz Sheva about concern that Ben-Gurion University is promoting the BDS movement against the State of Israel.
On Wednesday, the Knesset Education Committee convened an emergency session to discuss the issue.
"We have to fight against Israeli academics who promote BDS, who accuse Israel of war crimes and crimes against humanity," Peleg told Arutz Sheva.
"It gives a shot in the arm to anti-Semites and to the BDS movement," he added.
"I'm very happy that Knesset members also heard us and are supporting us, and we are seeing the Israeli public, of course, support us very strongly, because they understand that...if Zionism falls, God forbid, it will fall from within.
He said that the radical anti-Israel organizations which operate within Israel are not true grassroots organizations, but are foreign funded attempts to weaken Israel from within.
"It's not a grassroots phenomenon. It comes from outside the country, from money that comes from European governments and the New Israel Fund, which is an American organization."
