A 38-year old resident of Holon was arrested Sunday following a complaint that he attacked a woman and her baby while attempting to steal her cellular phone.
According to the police report, the suspect arrived at a public park Sunday afternoon with the intention of stealing a cellular device.
The man first attempted to steal a cell phone from a woman walking through the park, but fled after she resisted.
Shortly thereafter, the suspect spotted the complainant, who was holding her cellular phone while pushing a baby carriage.
The suspect approached the victim, also a Holon resident, and attempted to grab her phone. When the woman resisted, the suspect physically assaulted both her and her child, kicking her baby carriage. His attack knocked over the carriage and the child was thrown to the ground. The attacker then made off with the device and fled the scene.
Luckily, the child was not harmed in the incident.
Police units were called to the scene shortly afterwards, and with the help of civilians at the scene, located the suspect and arrested him.
